Grace Church, San Luis Obispo is a growing body of believers who are committed to  celebrating, proclaiming and living out the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ on California’s Central Coast and beyond. We value expository preaching and teaching of God’s Word, the doctrines of grace, God-centered family worship, and vibrant, authentic multigenerational Christian community. We believe the Gospel is the power of God to transform individual lives, families, communities and cultures.

Grace Church was founded as an independent Bible believing and teaching church in 1931 by Pastor Leroy Persson who faithfully served the church for 37 years. In the 1930s, the church acquired and began construction on the present facility downtown in the heart of San Luis Obispo, on the corner of Pismo and Osos streets. The original and continuing vision of the church and its people was to “turn their community upside down for Jesus Christ.”

In 1969, Johnny Boswell became Grace’s second senior pastor, and remained until 1977. Dean Keller served as the third senior pastor until 1994 and was followed by Ron Jones who served until 2001. Our present Senior Pastor, Tim Theule, was recently called by Grace, in March 2003. Presently, Grace is experiencing a season of blessing and growth. We currently have 600 to 700 per week in attendance at two Sunday morning worship services, with 220 students in our Jr. and Senior high youth programs, and over 200 kids in our children’s Sunday school program.
